Soup has a place in both Eastern and Western cuisines. Drinking soup is one of the Chinese mealtime customs. The authors, LJ Loo and his wife, Leong Mee Fong are hospitable people. They often invite friends to join them for meals. When Mee Fong was young, she helped her mother, who originally hailed from Guangdong, China to cook and boil soup. Thus, she is experienced in boiling soup. Their friends keep paying her compliments on her long-boiled soups. In this cookbook, both of them share 50 soup recipes that are popular among their friends. Most of the recipes are given verbally from friends throughout Malaysia, then they endeavoured to re-create the soups.
