Filem ini menumpu pada Koko, seorang budak yang dibesar oleh Pokemon dan juga anggar dirinya ialah Pokemon, anggap Pokemon Mitos Zarude sebagai ayahnya. Ash dan Pikachu bertemu dengan Koko semasa perjalanan. Filem ini menumpu pada tema “manusia dibesar oleh Pokemon”, amat berlainan dengan tema dulu yang menumpu pada “jalinan di antara pelatih manusia dengan Pokemon mereka”.
